What Clients Say About Artala Interior Design — Seattle and Beyond

These aren't just renovations and new builds. They're some of the most significant investments my clients have ever made — personally, not just financially. I start every project by listening. Really listening. What follows is what happens when that's true — in their own words.

Turning Stress into Serenity, and Vision into Home

“Whether you are building a new home or just remodeling an existing home, creating a joyful and comfortable living space can be very stressful. Happily, my husband and I avoided many of the most stressful hurdles with the guidance of Artala.

We met Amy May a few years ago when we were building a backyard outdoor space for our home in Sammamish. Amy was organized, thoughtful and quick to understand our goals for the area. Thanks to Amy’s keen design skills, our outdoor oasis is functional and stylish. The backyard quickly became one of our most favorite home hangouts.

The experience with Amy was so seamless that we did not hesitate to sign her on for a bigger project: a cottage in MT. Amy held our hands from the ground up — guiding us through building structure, room layout, electrical plan, and more. We had limited square footage to work with, but Amy’s efficient design plans provided for perfect utility of space. Amy worked directly with our contractors, which freed us to focus on the finishing touches that made the cottage feel like ours.

Our cottage in the woods is a little dream getaway. It is as cozy and inviting as it is elegant and sophisticated. I could not be more satisfied with our project experience and final product.”

Thoughtful Design Turned Our Small Bathroom Into a Spacious Retreat

“We moved into our new bathroom and we love everything! What an amazing use of the same 10’ x 10’ space that is now beautiful and incredibly functional. Your design gave us all our desires and solved old problems.

The bathroom door now opens wider so we can pass by the person standing at the sink. Extending the wall by the toilet created privacy. The beautiful new linen cupboard and vanity have oodles more storage than we had before. I love the sink faucets that don’t splash out water when full on and are surprisingly very easy to get a drink from. Rick has his bigger and VERY deep tub. I love the clean look of the under-mount and the waterfall edge from the vanity to the tub deck was a perfect idea. The straw-like vertical tile on the tub face visually sets the tub apart with its warm color and texture. The shower is so much bigger than the old one. There is room enough for two and both the spray hose and the shower head can be on at the same time so no one gets cold! The niche holds Costco sized bottles and I love my corner foot ledge. The pony wall height is perfect as it lets in light, gives a bigger feel to the room, but also is high enough to provide some privacy. The heated floor is so luxurious on the feet we don’t need rugs, and the shower floor dries very quickly.

Our bathroom vibe is perfect. I love the mixes of metals, textures, colors, lighting, and the walnut wood just warms it all up! I am also a convert of layered lighting. “Can you ever have too many options”? All the switches have dimmers so whatever lighting strikes our fancy it can be achieved.

For 5 years my husband had to wait for this bathroom update while I was paralyzed by so many decisions. I have never used a designer before. You are a very gifted designer but are first personable, encouraging, and joyful. You actually made decision making exciting and very fun! Your communication, sense of responsibility, and follow through was of the highest standard and very much appreciated.”

Architectural Vision Meets Artful Living in Our Edmonds Home

“Amy worked tirelessly to assist us with updating our Edmonds home.

Amy provided numerous architectural drawings for our contractor to follow, as well as site level views so we could visualize the end result. She interacted with structural engineers. She truly helped with everything, color palette, furniture and furniture placement, beautiful finishes, and even exquisite artwork. The result is stunning, and we are very grateful for her help.”

Design with Ease — ADU Brought to Life Through Care, Clarity, + Craft

“Amy was a pleasure to work with on the design of our ADU. She went above and beyond to ensure that the final plans and material selections reflected our preferences, while being mindful of the project’s budget.

I was also very impressed at Amy’s ability to navigate the city’s tedious permitting process, turning the permit around in only one month when we easily anticipated that it may take three months or longer. I would not hesitate to use her services on a future project.”

Clear, Creative, Considered — Design for Confident Decisions

“Amy provided thoughtful and creative architectural schematic layouts for my parents’ home in Chicago as they plan to age in place. Her work gave us and our builder a clear, flexible framework to study possibilities and make confident decisions. I look forward to working with Amy once we get to the interior design part of our project.”

Architecture Meets Heart — Everyday Beauty, Reimagined

“Amy provided me the expertise and skills to transform my tired 80s home into a fresh, comfortable and beautiful space. Her background in architecture and design along with her listening skills, attentiveness and availability enabled the process to be collaborative and very successful.”

Translating Vision into Space — Design That Speaks from the Heart

“Amy is skilled at extracting, interpreting and developing a homeowner’s vision (emanating from head, heart and soul).”

From Longtime Home to Dream Home

“Amy is wonderful! She guided us through an extensive remodel of our home of 17 years. With their talent and experience, we ended up with our dream house.

Amy did all the design and permitting for adding dormers to our bedrooms and a full redesign of our kitchen and all bathrooms. We appreciated how she listened to us and helped us keep within our budget. We have recommended them to friends and family and would definitely use them again.”

An Intuitive Approach — Design That Listens and Nurtures

“Amy has an innate emotional intelligence and empathy that guides and nurtures the design process.”

A Joyful Collaboration — Design That Transforms Both Home and Heart

“Amy established a collaborative approach from the outset of the process, and her emotional intelligence, empathy, enthusiasm, warmth and energy have made our design and remodel project an enjoyable, memorable, fulfilling and life-changing experience.”
